About the Event

The work of Margaret Mee, and the Amazon Rainforests she explored along with its Orchids.

Based on her journals and artwork, this talk focuses on the adventures of Margaret Mee, her adversity and determination as she explored the Amazon.

She became a renowned botanist and botanical artist, recording in situ many orchids previously undiscovered before the forest’s destruction.  She made a significant international contribution highlighting the destruction of the Brazilian rainforest being one of the first to speak out about its plight.

Michael Radley who will give the presentation has brought together her illustrations and diaries along with  photos and details of orchids illustrated.

We look forward to you joining us for this exciting  Zoom presentation.
